Heavy Rare Earth Free Neodymium Magnets

Introduction

Sintered Neodymium Iron Boron (NdFeB) magnets offer high magnetic strength in a compact size. They are widely used in motors, electronic devices, industrial equipment, and other applications that require strong and reliable magnetic performance.

New Favor Industry provides a range of Dy-Free / Tb-Free sintered NdFeB magnets designed for applications that require high performance, thermal stability, and efficient material use.

To address heavy rare earth price volatility and supply risks, New Favor Industry has established a comprehensive line of HRE-Free Sintered NdFeB grades to meet diverse application requirements. These materials exclude Dysprosium (Dy), Terbium (Tb), and Gadolinium (Gd), instead leveraging grain refinement, grain boundary diffusion, and special heat treatment to maintain the high magnetic energy product characteristic of conventional NdFeB while achieving excellent coercivity and high-temperature performance. This technology effectively reduces material cost and supply uncertainty while avoiding risks related to rare earth regulations, offering a stable and competitive alternative.

HRE-Free Sintered NdFeB Magnets are ideal for industries requiring high supply stability. With an operating temperature range of 0°C to 150°C, they provide an optimal solution for consumer electronics, permanent magnet motors, and green energy technologies, enabling lightweight, high-efficiency designs with controlled cost.

Key Technologies in HRE-Free Magnets
  • To overcome the performance challenges associated with eliminating medium and heavy rare earth elements, materials scientists and engineering teams apply a range of advanced technologies to enhance magnetic performance:
    • • Grain Boundary Diffusion (GBD)
Grain Boundary Diffusion is used to improve coercivity and resistance to demagnetization. During the process, selected materials are applied to the magnet surface and diffused along the grain boundaries through controlled heat treatment. This helps improve magnetic performance while using material more efficiently.
    • • Grain Refinement
Careful control of alloy composition, powder preparation, sintering, and heat treatment produces a fine and uniform microstructure. This helps improve coercivity, magnetic stability, and overall performance.
    • • Optimized Alloy Design
Material composition can be adjusted to reduce the required amount of Dysprosium (Dy), Terbium (Tb), Gadolinium (Gd), and Holmium (Ho), depending on the required magnet grade and application.
Different applications require different magnetic properties, operating temperatures, dimensions, coatings, and mechanical designs.
    • Not every HRE-Free magnet can deliver optimal performance for your product. Only through professional evaluation can successful implementation be ensured. Share your requirements with us to receive expert technical support.
